HomeSpace Table

Year 4 - Semester Project - Group Project

The project description was to a line of products as a group that fulfilled the goal of having the right to repair as well as well as being easy to transport and assemble.

Intuitive, Light, and Compact

Each group member designed a different piece in a furniture collection; a lamp, a sofa, a coffee table, and a bookshelf.

When designing our furniture, it must be easy to understand how the products work from the appearance and simple instructions. Our products must take up a lightweight appearance and materials must aid the ease of transport and assembly while maintaining good structural integrity and make use of structural negative space to reduce the footprint of the disassembled versions of the products for small living.

Easy Assembly

The table is comprised of only 4 pieces; the tabletop, the two legs, and the shelf. All pieces fit together using simple fasteners, with no screws or tools of any kind being necessary.

Often, affordable furniture is made of single-use fasteners or are assembled without disassembly in mind. Our group’s products fix this through the usage of intuitive fasteners and reusable materials.

Keyslot Fasteners

Through the slots placed on the bottom of the tabletop, the notches on the top of the legs can be slid into place to securely lock into place. To do this, the table uses keyslots. The legs are placed into the topside of the table and then brought inward to lock.
